Kendra, Columbus, Indiana: Hey Ebony, welcome to the Indiana Fever. My dad and I have bought season tickets for the past two years and love to watch the Fever play. You guys had an awesome win last night, what did you think of the game??
Ebony Hoffman: I thought the game was good. On both offense and defense we played well. I think we shocked the Comets by coming out and playing as well as we did.
Sue (Fort Wayne): Hey "Big Dog", was the game more physical then you thought it would be?
Ebony Hoffman: I had high expectations about how physical it would be. Actually it wasn't as physical as I thought. I was a good win for us, a real confidence booster.
John (Indianapolis): We saw you got you first WNBA basket last night, even if it was preseason, what was it like to see that one go through?
Ebony Hoffman: It gave me tremendous confidence to see it go through the net. It gave me the feeling that, "Now I'm a professional." And that's a great feeling to have.
Heather (Indy): Did you think you were going to be a first round pick? And did you ahve any idea you would end up with te Fever?
Ebony Hoffman: I had a good idea I'd be a first round pick. I didn't know if the Fever or Los Angeles were gonna take me, but I'm glad it was the Fever. This is a great situation here and I'm really looking forward to it and happy to be here.
Sonia(Los Angeles): Hi,Ebony!I am a big fan of USC, what's you missed most about USC? I'm so happy to see you in Indiana,go fever!!!
Ebony Hoffman: Mostly, I'll miss the support of the alumni and the school. It's a great school, great campus. I'll miss it. And I can't forget my old teammates, I'll miss them too.
Mom, Los Angeles: Tell me what is your biggest concern regarding your abilities at this level?
Ebony Hoffman: Oh God! Mom, why would you do this? I have no concerns. In time eventually, I will be the player I want to be. It's a learning situation for me here, and with Natalie Williams and Tamika Catchings and other players here to help teach me, I will be fine.
Kim (Cali): Hey Ebony, how hard of an adjustment will it be for you going from sunny california, to Indiana?
Ebony Hoffman: It's been a big adjustment. I don't have alot of family and friends here, but my teammates have helped. The weather is different, but most of the time I'm indoors anyway, where there's heat and A/C.
sylvia/sacramento: Hi Ebony, How is your transition from college into the pros going? Are the team workouts more intense?
Ebony Hoffman: I would say, yes, the workouts are more intense. You are expected to be in control of yourself, but when you do something, you really do it hard. So we work real hard, at a controlled pace.
Inglewood, Cali: How excited are for playing for the WNBA and who do you look forward matching up against?
Ebony Hoffman: I'm very excited to be playing in the WNBA, it's been a dream of mine. I'm looking forward to the matchup with L.A. where I grew up and people I know, like Lisa. We'll see how it goes when I get to LA.
Randy Estes (Greenfield, IN): I followed your career at USC for a few years. What was your initial reaction when you found out you were drafted by the Fever and how do you like Indiana so far. Have a great year Ebony and best wishes always.
Ebony Hoffman: I was ecstatic. You never really know who will draft you. I'm glad I wasn't at the show at ESPN, it was good to be home with my family and enjoying it with them. Indiana, is not that bad, it's lively, it's fun, it's laid back. It's alot of things I wouldn't have in LA, and I'm really glad to be here.
Nina (grand rapids): What do you like doing when you're not plaing ball?
Ebony Hoffman: I like to sit at home and watch movies all day long (Laughing). I like to have a nice cold lemonade on the couch and watch the "Color Purple."
Art Bentley: Hi Ebony...I work with your mother at Raytheon. I'm curious about what players do at your level to stay in shape during the off-season.
Ebony Hoffman: (Laughing) Since our offseason is so long, about eight or nine months, some players like to go offseason. Others stay home and play in Rec Leagues. It depends on you, what you prefer.
Dee(Tennesee): What's up Ebony! Seeing that you are from USC and such great post players like Lisa Leslie, Adrian Williams, Tina Thompson have done well in the WNBA do U feel the same pressure?
Ebony Hoffman: I don't feel any pressure at all. I will do what I've been born to do, and I've been put here to play basketball. It's not a bad thing, coming from a good school with great tradition. I think I will be a great player some day.
Jonathan (Cerritos): Do you plan to live in Indiana. If so will you still make it to see the Dawgs
Ebony Hoffman: (Laughing) I'm thinking about it. Indiana is a great place to live and settle. And of course, I would love to see the Dogs.
Rashanti(Pasco): Hey Ebony!! What is it like to be on the same team with the great Tamika Catchings?
Ebony Hoffman: It's incredible to play with someone who works so hard and enjoys what she's doing. And despite all the honors she's gotten she is very down to earth and a great teammate. I hope to someday be on the same level as her.
Michael (L.A): You beat Nicole Powell's team when they (Stanford) came to LA last January. What do the Fever have in store for Charlotte, Sunday?
Ebony Hoffman: The Fever have in store for Charlotte a lot of things they won't be ready for. Coach has us playing well, and I think a lot of teams won't be ready for us, as was Houston last night.
Roger (Indy): How do you think the fever we fare this year in a very talented league?
Ebony Hoffman: I think we'll be better than most people think. I think people are picking us fifth or sixth and people are underestimating us. Coach Winters and his staff are terrific and whatever stumbling blocks we get will be just that, things we need to get over to achieve our goals.
Ebony Hoffman: I'd like to thank the fans supporting me and Fever. I hope we will bring some joy to you and hope you will come out and see us play.
