Fever Signs Guard Sherill Baker; Kasha Terry Waived

The Indiana Fever has waived third-year center Kasha Terry and announced the signing of third-year guard Sherill Baker. Baker joins the team immediately, filling the place of rookie guard Laine Selwyn who was waived by the team on Monday.

Baker, a 5-8 former star at the University of Georgia, was released in training camp by the Los Angeles Sparks. She made 24 appearances with the Sparks in 2007 and averaged 8.5 points and 3.2 assists per game. Acquired by the Sparks three games into the 2007 season, Baker was a first-round draft pick of the New York Liberty in 2006, playing in all 34 games and averaging 7.4 points per game. She averages better than 1.3 steals per game for her career.

Terry, the Fever’s second-round draft pick in 2006, played 21 games over two-plus seasons, including two games to begin the 2008 season.

The Fever, 1-1 after Wednesday’s loss at Eastern Conference rival Detroit, travels to Connecticut for a nationally televised game on ESPN2, Tuesday, May 27 (7:00 p.m.). The Fever returns to Conseco Fieldhouse next week for a pair of games against Western and Eastern Conference favorites, Los Angeles and Detroit, on Thursday, May 29 and Saturday, May 31, respectively.
