Fever fans tweet their way to Conseco Fieldhouse
The Indiana Fever gave their fans following on Facebook and Twitter the opportunity to win great prizes, including autographed merchandise and free tickets to Game 3 of the WNBA Finals. Fans could win one of the prizes by being the first to correctly answer a Fever-related trivia question.
Fever fan Jamie Houston is one of the fans who attended the Game 3 victory. Less than 24 hours earlier, Jamie was on a lunch break checking her cell phone when the trivia question was posted. She was the first to correctly answer it and landed four free tickets.
“I was in shock (that I won),” said Jamie, who drove four hours from St. Louis to be in attendance. “I couldn’t remember the answer right away, so I pulled out my smart phone and ‘Googled’ it. Next thing I know the Fever announced I was the winner.”
Jamie’s quick mobile search confirmed the correct answer was Game 1 of the 2007 Eastern Conference Semifinals featuring the Fever and the Connecticut Sun, who won 93-88. The answer took Jamie from watching the game at home to sitting with three friends in Conseco Fieldhouse, two of whom rode with her from St. Louis while the other is an Indianapolis resident. The drive was well worth it for Jamie.
“I’ve always been a Coach Dunn fan since growing up in West Lafayette, so this was great.”
Fever season ticket holder Travis Hiland was the fan who won a photo autographed by Fever forward Tamika Catchings. Travis, who should break 15,000 tweets by the end of the WNBA Finals, correctly answers Tamika’s father Harvey played for the Philadelphia 76ers. Harvey also played for New Jersey, Milwaukee and the L.A. Clippers.
“I remembered hearing Tamika talk about her dad’s basketball career, so I knew the answer right away,” said Travis, who immediately tweeted about this interview after it concluded. “I haven’t missed a game in five seasons, so it was exciting.”
Fans who want to participate in future trivia contests should follow the Fever on Twitter or Facebook.
