Fever Adds Shooting Guard Maggie Lucas in Trade with Phoenix

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Fever has acquired rookie shooting guard Maggie Lucas in a trade with the Phoenix Mercury, it has been announced by team President and General Manager Kelly Krauskopf. In exchange for Lucas, Phoenix receives the Fever’s second-round draft pick in 2015.

Lucas, a 5-10 guard from Philadelphia and a two-time Big Ten player of the year out of Penn State, was the 21st overall selection in the recent WNBA Draft. At Penn State, she scored 2,510 career points which was second in school history and fourth in conference history. She averaged 21.0 points per game last season, finishing her career with a Big Ten and Penn State-record 365 3-pointers, 12th in NCAA history. The sharpshooter shot better than 40 percent from 3-point range and better than 90 percent from the free-throw line in her four-year career with the Lady Lions.

Lucas averaged 8.0 points in two games at last weekend’s WNBA Preseason Tournament at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney. She had 13 points in a loss to Minnesota, and three points in a loss Sunday to the Fever.
