Fever Signs WNBA Veteran Allison Feaster to Free Agent Contract

March 20, 2008

The Indiana Fever has announced the signing of free agent guard/forward Allison Feaster, a 9-year WNBA veteran who ranks seventh in league history in 3-point field goals. As per team policy, terms of the contract are not disclosed.

The 5-11 Feaster, 32, played her last six seasons with the Charlotte Sting, before missing the 2007 campaign. She began her pro career as the fifth overall pick of the 1998 WNBA Draft and played her first three seasons with the Los Angeles Sparks.

“Allison brings veteran experience and tremendous shooting to our team,” said Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Kelly Krauskopf. “She strengthens and solidifies our core of perimeter players. We are very excited that she is joining our team.”

The only player in WNBA history from an Ivy League school, Feaster was the NCAA Division I scoring leader in 1997-98 and guided No. 16-seed Harvard to the greatest upset in NCAA Tournament history as the Crimson knocked off top-seeded Stanford. She continued her scoring exploits in the WNBA where she averaged double-figure scoring from 2001 to 2004 with the Sting. She missed much of the 2005 campaign due to injury, and she played limited minutes in 2006 due to the birth of a daughter, Sara Aleece Strong, on Feb. 3, 2006.

Currently, she plays for Club Balconcesto San Jose in Spain where she averages 13.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

The Indiana Fever begins its ninth WNBA season by hosting the Washington Mystics on Saturday, May 17 (7:00 p.m.). Led by WNBA All-Stars Tamika Catchings, Katie Douglas and Tammy Sutton-Brown, the Fever bids for its first WNBA Finals appearance after reaching the Eastern Conference Finals in two of the past three seasons. Season tickets are available at FeverBasketball.com or by calling (317) 917-2500.
