Fever Opens Season May 22 vs. Charlotte

The Indiana Fever has announced its 2005 Women’s National Basketball Association schedule, which begins with a season opener Sunday, May 22, against the Charlotte Sting at Conseco Fieldhouse. Two nights later, the Fever entertains reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year Diana Taurasi and the Phoenix Mercury.

Overall, the Fever will battle its five Eastern Conference opponents four times each, with home and away games against each of seven Western Conference opponents to maintain the league’s 34-game schedule. WNBA Playoffs begin August 30.

The Fever currently is in the midst of a season-ticket campaign which features a “Pay Now, Park Free” incentive for all new season ticket holders who purchase before Jan. 31. The successful offseason sales program includes season tickets available for as low as $99 on the Krieg DeVault Club Level.

Some Fever schedule highlights for the upcoming season:

  • The Fever plays a nationally televised game on ESPN2, Sunday, Aug. 7, at Washington.
  • Indiana’s home opener includes a special Sunday night tipoff at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, May 22, against Dawn Staley and the Charlotte Sting.
  • The Fever visits defending WNBA champion Seattle, Saturday, June 4, before hosting the Storm on Thursday, Aug. 4.
  • The Fever are home for almost an entire month, hosting a five-game homestand beginning Friday, June 24, against Minnesota and ending Friday, July 15, against Detroit. Indiana begins the homestand after a road game at Washington, June 18, and does not travel again until meeting Detroit for the second time in three nights, at Auburn Hills, Mich., July 17.
  • Lisa Leslie and the Los Angeles Sparks visit Indianapolis during the five-game homestand on Tuesday, June 25.
  • The Fever’s annual camp day takes place with a 1:00 p.m. tipoff on Wednesday, July 13, when Indiana hosts the Connecticut Sun and Indianapolis native Katie Douglas.
