Fever Announces 2006 TV Schedule

News Release | May 3, 2006
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Fever begins its seventh year in the Women’s National Basketball Association, and for the seventh consecutive season, the Fever has completed its local television package with market affiliates FSN Midwest and WB4. For the fifth straight year, the broadcast tandem of Chris Denari and Debbie Antonelli will call the action on Indiana’s local telecasts.

Indiana opens its regular season on Saturday, May 20, against the Detroit Shock, in the first of four home games televised on WB4. Each of WB4’s Fever telecasts will fall on Saturday evenings, with subsequent dates including a July 1 rematch of last season’s Eastern Conference Finals when the Connecticut Sun visits Conseco Fieldhouse. WB4 will also carry the July 22 game with the Los Angeles Sparks, and an August 5 date with the San Antonio Silver Stars. All four WB4 games begin at 7:00 p.m.

The first FSN Midwest telecast is Wednesday, June 7, against the Washington Mystics. FSN Midwest will televise three Fever games in June, and a pair of dates against the Fever’s new geographic rival, the Chicago Sky – the WNBA’s expansion franchise in 2006. The Fever and Sky will appear on FSN Midwest on Wednesday, June 21. The FSN Midwest schedule continues with Detroit on Thursday, June 29, and concludes with Fan Appreciation Night, August 13, when the Sky visits Indianapolis to close the regular season.

In all, 10 Fever games will be televised – including a pair of national telecasts on ESPN2. ESPN2 will carry an Eastern Conference and a Western Conference game on most Tuesdays throughout the summer. Indiana will debut on the weekly package when it hosts New York on Tuesday, May 30. The Fever will appear on ESPN2 a second time when it visits Detroit on Tuesday, August 1.

All Fever regular season games are also broadcast live on WIBC AM-1070, as Denari, sports director at FOX59, teams with former Purdue star Jane Schott in calling the action. Veteran broadcaster Kevin Lee makes the call with Schott when Denari handles local TV duties.

The Fever opens its preseason schedule at Charlotte on Saturday, May 6, and hosts a preseason game against the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday, May 11 (noon). Indiana begins the 2006 regular season when it hosts the Detroit Shock on Saturday, May 20 (7:00 p.m.).
