Frohlich was a Liberty rookie in 2002 when the Fever hosted its first home playoff game in franchise history.

Fever Adds Frohlich

News Release | February 11, 2006
INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Fever Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Kelly Krauskopf has announced the free agent signing of 6-2 power forward Linda Fröhlich. A member of the German National Team and currently playing in Russia, Fröhlich is the Fever’s third free agent signing this month. Per club policy, terms were not disclosed.

A 6-2 power forward, Fröhlich played college basketball at UNLV where she was a three-time player of the year in the Mountain West Conference. She was a second-round draft pick of the New York Liberty in the 2002 WNBA Draft. She played 42 games with the Liberty during the 2002 and 2003 seasons, and has played in Europe the past two years.

“Linda is a versatile power forward who is strong on the inside, and can shoot the 3 on the outside,” said Krauskopf, who added her fourth new player to the Fever roster within the past two weeks. “She has improved her game playing overseas, and we look for her to help our depth in the frontcourts.”

In Russia, Fröhlich is part of a star-studded Spartak Moscow team that has included Fever players Tamika Catchings and Natalie Williams. Fröhlich has averaged 17.3 points and 9.3 rebounds per game during EuroCup action this winter. Her 22 points in a playoff win last week helped propel Spartak into the EuroCup semifinals.

As a WNBA rookie in 2002, Fröhlich was a part of the Liberty team that beat Indiana in a first-round playoff series. She averaged 2.1 points and 1.2 rebounds during two seasons with New York. She played for Trentino Rovereto in Italy last winter. Fröhlich is the all-time scoring leader at UNLV with 2,355 points, and the first Lady Rebel with 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.

The Fever opens training camp on Sunday, April 23, and begins the 2006 schedule when it hosts the Detroit Shock on Saturday, May 20 (7:00 p.m.). For season ticket information, call (317) 917-2500.
