October 21, 2012 | Fever 87, Lynx 78 | WNBA Finals Game 4

In a Finals series that stirred emotions all around central Indiana, the Fever put a hammerlock on the league title Sunday night with an 87-78 victory over the Minnesota Lynx at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Indiana eliminated the 2011 champs by winning three of the first four games in the best-of-five WNBA Finals.

October 19, 2012 | Fever 76, Lynx 59 | WNBA Finals Game 3

In one brief sentence, Indiana Coach Lin Dunn summarized the staggering proportions of her Fever team's 76-59 victory over Minnesota in Game 3 of the WNBA Finals.

“I thought for three quarters, we probably played as well as any Fever team I've ever seen,” said Dunn, who's in her fifth year as head coach and ninth with the club.

With just under 2 minutes remaining in the third quarter, Indiana led by 37 points. The Fever's unflinching style took a toll on the visiting Lynx from the opening tip on Friday night.

October 17, 2012 | Fever 71, Lynx 83 | WNBA Finals Game 2

Seimone Augustus scored 23 of her 27 points in the second half to help the Minnesota Lynx surge past the Indiana Fever 83-71 on Wednesday night to even the WNBA finals at one game apiece.

Maya Moore pitched in 23 points and the defending champion Lynx forced the Fever into 24 turnovers, 15 after halftime. Tamika Catchings led the way as usual with 27 points and eight rebounds, but the Fever's defense faded after a dominant start.

Erlana Larkins had 16 points and 15 rebounds and the Indiana Fever stunned defending champion Minnesota with a 76-70 victory over the Lynx in Game 1 of the WNBA Finals on Sunday night

Tamika Catchings added 20 points for the Fever, who played without leading scorer Katie Douglas because of a sprained left ankle.

Tamika Catchings scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Indiana Fever into the WNBA Finals for the second time in four seasons with an 87-71 win over the Connecticut Sun in Game 3 on Thursday night.

The Fever, who have won four games while facing elimination during the playoffs, rallied after losing star Katie Douglas to an ankle injury just 5 minutes into the game.

As basketball goes, the game proved to be splendid theater. Intense action. Six ties and lead changes in the fourth quarter alone. And a high-drama ending that had 9,225 fans in Bankers Life Fieldhouse going bonkers.

Shavonte Zellous hit the game winner, a 16-foot jumper in the final second. Her field goal elevated the Indiana Fever to a 78-76 triumph over the Connecticut Sun on Monday night.

October 5, 2012 | Fever 64, Sun 75 | Conf. Finals Game 1

Tina Charles scored 14 of her 18 points in the second half to lead the Connecticut Sun to a 76-64 win over the Indiana Fever on Friday night in the opener of the Eastern Conference finals.

The WNBA's MVP added 15 rebounds and blocked four shots for Connecticut, which used a 14-2 second-half run to open up what had been a tie game at halftime. Kara Lawson had 16 points and Tan White added 13 for the Sun, who swept New York in the opening round and have now won eight of their last nine games.

October 2, 2012 | Fever 76, Dream 64 | Conf. Semi-Finals Game 3

One of the last players to make the Indiana Fever roster in May has developed into one of the team's toughest and most reliable players in September and October.

Erlana Larkins, who wasn't part of a WNBA roster for two seasons before signing with Indiana in 2012, is known as “Larkins the lion” among her teammates. Tuesday night, she showed why, battling her way to 20 rebounds and 16 points as the Fever defeated visiting Atlanta, 75-64, and closed out the Dream in the third game of their best-of-three series in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

September 30, 2012 | Fever 103, Dream 88 | Conf. Semi-Finals Game 2

Tamika Catchings had 25 points and 13 rebounds, Brian January scored 24 points and the Indiana Fever beat the Atlanta Dream 103-88 in Game 2 on Sunday to even their Eastern Conference semifinals series.

Erlana Larkins had 16 points, Shavonte Zellous added 15, Tammy Sutton-Brown 11 and Erin Phillips 10 for the Fever, who shot 53 percent from the field.

September 28, 2012 | Fever 66, Dream 75 | Conf. Semi-Finals Game 1

Indiana's rousing comeback fell short. The Fever players excavated a hole that was too deep. A statistics sheet loaded with ruinous numbers ultimately did them in.

The Atlanta Dream dumped the Fever, 75-66, in Friday night's opening game of their best-of-three semifinal series in the WNBA Eastern Conference playoffs. Poor 3-point shooting (3-of-13) hurt the Fever. Yielding too many easy points in the paint (44) also impaired Indiana. But the most damaging stat of all was rebounds.

September 23, 2012 | Fever 91, Shock 58

Going with only eight healthy players for the second consecutive game, the Indiana Fever still accomplished its goals on Sunday evening.

Most importantly, the Fever ended the regular season on an upbeat and winning note, thumping the visiting Tulsa Shock, 91-58. It marked Indiana's 22nd victory for 2012, tying the franchise seasonal record. It also served as a nice bridge as the club now transitions into WNBA postseason play.

The 3-pointers weren't connecting. Even some easy layups rimmed out. But the Indiana Fever persevered Friday night in a game it never led before falling 66-64 to the visiting Minnesota Lynx, the defending WNBA champions.

“I'm disappointed that we didn't win, but I'm thrilled that we had a chance to win on the last possession,” Fever Coach Lin Dunn said.

The Indiana Fever's blueprint for achievement continues to work nicely.

The Fever toppled a tired Seattle team, 72-48, on Wednesday night and collected its 20th victory of the season. That makes 20 victories in four consecutive years for Indiana, which also has accomplished the 20-win feat in seven of the last eight seasons, a WNBA first. And Indiana has five regular-season games remaining.

Indiana's 89-83 victory over visiting Phoenix on Sunday night boiled down to this: The Fever's disruptive defense created all manner of turnovers while its offense handled the basketball with care.

Indiana's defense chose to ramp up the full-court pressure early, taking advantage of the the absence of Mercury point guard Samantha Prahalis, who was out with a shoulder injury. The plan worked nicely as the Fever forced Phoenix into 23 turnovers that led to 30 points for the home team.

Properly inspired, the Indiana Fever rallied from a woeful start Saturday night to string together impressive first-half runs of 18-2 and then 17-2 on the way to capturing an easy 81-64 triumph over the Chicago Sky.

It marked Indiana's fifth consecutive victory and seventh in eight games since the WNBA's Olympic break. It also represented a major milestone. The victory lifted Indiana's 2012 home record to 10-3, making the Fever the first WNBA team to win 10 or more home games in 11 consecutive seasons.

Fever defeat the Sun 95-61 in Thursday's game. The 34-point margin marked the worst loss in Connecticut team history. Right from the tipoff Indiana played strong defense and were unstoppable offensively. Six Indiana players scored double figures.

The Sun shot only a 32.8 percent from the field. Fever's Briann January scored a career-high of 20 points. Katie Douglas scored 17. Jeanette Pohlen had 12, while Shavonte Zellous and Tamika Catchings contributed 13 each. Mistie Mims led the Sun with 11 points.

The Indiana Fever can watch the videotape of Saturday night's 86-72 victory over Atlanta, package it and file it under E -- for exceptional.

“A really good win against a really good team,” Coach Lin Dunn said after her Indiana club lifted its record to 12-7 ahead of a three-game trip to play Western Conference teams. Indiana, the WNBA's top 3-point team, totaled 12 in 27 tries. In fact, the club totaled at least 12 3-pointers for the fifth time this season compared to just three times in the first 12 years of its existence.

Using a familiar script, the Indiana Fever opened the WNBA season's second half by putting away the visiting Washington Mystics from the 3-point arc.

But here's the stunning news: Indiana set up its 84-66 victory on Thursday night by blocking out and and battling for every rebound. One of the league's worst rebounding teams in the first half of 2012, the Fever performed like one of the best, recording a 47-39 bulge on the glass.

July 12, 2012 | Fever 74, Sparks 77

The Indiana Fever fell to the Los Angeles Sparks in a close game Thursday evening at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. At halftime Indiana led 39-30.

Fever's coach Lin Dunn beleived that it was the lack of rebounding that lost the game for them.

The Fever scored 22 points off the Sparks' 14 turnovers. Tamika Catchings led the Fever with 27 points. Catchings shot 8-of-16 from the floor and 10-of-10 from the line. Sparks' forward Nneka Ogwumike scored 22 points and had 20 rebounds.

The Indiana Fever defeated the New York Liberty 84-82 on Tuesday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. This victory brought the Fever to a 10-6 record for the season.


During the fourth courter, Tamika Catching's and Katie Douglas together scored 16 of the Fever's 18 points. The Fever shot 52.5 percent from the field. Catchings ended with a total of 23 points, Douglas 20, and Shavonte Zellous contributed 12 points. The leading scorer for the Liberty was Cappie Pondexter with 33 points.

The Indiana Fever defeat the Chicago Sky in overtime Saturday evening at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. . The final score was 88-86, putting the Fever in second place in the WNBA Eastern Conference.


Tammy Sutton-Brown prevented an important pass from the opposing team that saved the game for the Fever during the final seconds of the game.
Tamika Catchings scored her 1,500th free throw in her WNBA career and scored a total of 18 points. Jessica Davenport scored 15, Shavonte Zellous had 14 points, and Katie Douglas contributed 13 points for Indiana.

The Indiana Fever defeats the Chicago Sky 81-72 on Wednesday. Fever's Shavonte Zellous scored a season-high of 18 points. Tamika Catchings had 17 points and a season-high of nine assists. Jeanette Pohlen contributed 14 points and Tammy Sutton-Brown added 10 points.


For the Sky Sylvia Fowles scored 19 points and 10 rebounds, Swin Cash had 17 points and Tamers Young added 15.

The Atlanta Dream defeats the Indiana Fever 70-58 on Tuesday. Fever's Tamika Catchings had a rough start missing her first six shots from the field and finishing with only eight points. The last time the Fever faced the Dream on May 27 Catchings scored 25 points and had 12 rebounds. Fever's Katie Douglas and Jessica Davenport also only contributed eight points apiece.


The Dream's leading scorer who is also suffering from a knee injury, McCoughtry, scored 22 points. Sancho Lyttle was not too far behind McCoughtry scoring 17points. The Dream out-rebounded the Fever 41-29.The Indiana

The Indiana Fever beat the Chicago Sky 84-70 during Saturday night's game at Bankers Fieldhouse. Coming off the bench, Indiana's center Jessica Davenport was unstoppable. She shot 9-9, breaking a franchise record for field goals made without a miss. Briann January also finished with a season high of 14 points while passing the 100th mark in her career for steals made. Fever's forward Tamika Catchings broke a WNBA record for free throws made. Hitting a total of 1,478 she surpasses Lisa Leslie's record.

The Chicago sky started out strong but the Fever took the first half with only a four-point lead 42-38. This win was the 11th straight home win for the Indiana Fever. Coach Dunn felt that the teams' defense played a major roll in this victory. The Fever continue with a busy schedule playing 5 games in 9 days.

The Indiana Fever fell nine points shy from defeating the Connecticut Sun 89-91 during Friday night's game at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. During the third-quarter a collision between Fever teammates Tamika Catchings and Tammy Sutton-Brown left Catchings receiving several stitches after the game. Catchings played hard scoring 31 points with eight rebounds. Fever's Katie Douglas also had a high scoring game with 23 points.

There were seven Sun players who scored double figures. Connecticut's bench tallied a total of 33 points. This is the most any opposing bench has scored against the Indiana Fever this season.

The Indiana Fever captured a 91-68 victory over the New York Liberty during Saturday night's game at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Coach Dunn pulled Fever substitutes in early during the game that outscored the Liberty subs 52-28 and outrebounding them 22-12.

Fever's Tamika Catchings led the Fever with 16 points. Fever subs Roneeka Hodges scored 15 points and Jeanette Pohlen contributed 12. The bench score of 52 points was only five shy of beating the franchise record. This win made Indiana match its best start record 4-0 in the franchise history.

The Indiana Fever defeats the Atlanta Dream 92-84 during the season opener Saturday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The Fever agreed that the win was not the best but it showed what they needed to work on in order to have a winning season. There were five Fever players to score double digits. Jessica Davenport had a double-double scoring 12 points and 110 rebounds. Katie Douglas scored 21 points and went 3-4 from the 3-point line

Last season the Dream beat the Fever in all four regular-season games that eliminated the Fever in the WNBA Eastern Conference finals. The Fever hit 12-of-21 3-pointers. This allowed the Fever to set a WNBA record by having eight different players hit 3-point field goals in the same game.

Still distinguishing the 2012 final roster for the Indiana Fever, Coach Linn Dunn switched the lineup often during Wednesday night's game against San Antonio Silver Stars. Testing different combinations with players allowed the Fever to walk away with a 78-69 win over the visiting San Antonio.

All 12 dressed Fever players scored during the game. Roneeka Hodges was the leading scorer with 10 points. Briann January, Katie Douglas and Erlana Larkins each scored nine points.
