FEVER AUCTION YIELDS OVER $44,000 FOR COMMUNITY HEALTH NETWORK FOUNDATION’S BREAST HEALTH FUND
Breast Health Awareness Auctions Have Contributed Over $100,000 In Past Three Seasons

INDIANAPOLIS – Community Health Network has announced that a total of $44,325 was raised during the Indiana Fever’s Breast Health Awareness Auction on Friday, Sept. 14, to benefit Community Health Network Foundation’s Breast Health Fund.

A part of the Fever’s annual Breast Health Awareness Night presented by Community Health Network, the third-annual postgame auction raised funds specifically for the Community Health Network Foundation’s Breast Health Fund. Among the dozens of items auctioned following the Fever’s game against the Minnesota Lynx, a package including Tamika Catchings’ game-worn pink jersey drew a winning bid of $9,200, by itself.

"Community is thrilled to partner with the Indiana Fever, a team of women who really embodies our devotion to serve our communities,” said Bente Weitekamp, vice president of development for Community Health Network Foundation. “The $44,000 raised by the Fever’s fans will impact mothers, sisters, daughters and families who face breast cancer in central Indiana. From diagnosis and screenings, to outreach and new treatment options, this gift will support our caregivers walking along side women and their families in the fight to save lives."

With the Fever wearing pink uniforms and pink shoes, every player’s game-worn uniform was a part of the auction, in addition to “experience” packages with players and coaches. Other top bids included $3,500 for a Katie Douglas jersey package that also included a “Katie Douglas experience” featuring a day spent with Douglas (usually lunch and an activity with the Fever star) following a Fever practice; and $2,800 for a southern style dinner and “cooking experience” package with head coach Lin Dunn. Included in the package was the pink hat worn by Dunn at last Friday’s game.

In its Breast Health Awareness Night partnership with CHN, Fever auctions in the past three years have raised over $100,000 for Community Health Network Foundation’s Breast Health Fund.
