In General:
“We still have not seen our true combinations on the floor. This is good because we can play so many players. Our energy level went up with certain players on the floor. I was disappointed we didn’t do better on the boards. We have a tough decision to make as two players must go. We will continue to evaluate during our last pre-season game and practices. It’s great to have everyone here, unlike last year when we didn’t. We’re thrilled with our draft picks and the other players we picked up.”

On the Later Start to the Season
“I had a great offseason and it’s better to have the season start later and have everyone here for preseason. We showed tonight the way the team is coming together. Our chemistry is good right now. For us, just being able to gel early on will help us in the end of the season.”

INDIANAPOLIS - Katie Douglas scored 15 points and Tammy Sutton-Brown pitched in 10 as the Indiana Fever downed the Chicago Sky in preseason WNBA action at Conseco Fieldhouse. Indiana (2-0) won its second preseason contest while the Sky (1-2) dropped its second in two days.
Douglas hit 6-of-9 shots from the floor to lead the Fever which shot 41.9 percent for the night. She had eight points in the first quarter as the Fever raced to a 28-16 advantage. Douglas scored 11 of her 15 in the first half. The Fever led 38 at the intermission.
The Sky got 15 points apiece from Candice Dupree and Chen Nan. The Sky outscored the Fever 22-15 in the second period to close the Indiana lead, but the Fever stretched it again to lead 61-51. In the fourth quarter, the Fever got six points off the bench from 12-year WNBA veteran Tamecka Dixon to thwart any Chicago hopes of a comeback.
Sutton-Brown also paced the Fever with seven rebounds on the night, while the Sky got eight boards from Indianapolis native Shyra Ely. Indiana, playing with rookie point guard Briann January in its starting lineup, limited Chicago to 39.3 percent shooting and forced 23 turnovers. January finished with seven points and a game-high three assists.
The Fever wraps its preseason schedule in Austin, Texas, on Tuesday, June 2, against the San Antonio Silver Stars.
Indiana opens its 10th season on June 6 at Atlanta, followed a day later by its 2009 home opener against the Minnesota Lynx (7:00 p.m.) at Conseco Fieldhouse.
