Whitmore Practices, Final Roster Announced
INDIANAPOLIS Ė All-Star forward Tamika Whitmore arrived to the Indiana Feverís training camp Wednesday, and following its afternoon practice, the Fever announced it waived rookies Jessica Dickson and Jennifer Humphrey.
Whitmore, who scored a WNBA Playoffs record 41 points the last time she wore a Fever uniform last August, appeared at a community rally before practicing in a Fever uniform for the first time in nearly nine months. Offseason acquisitions Sheri Sam and Tammy Sutton-Brown, both former All-Stars and former teammates in Charlotte, are anticipated to arrive prior to the Feverís season opener, Saturday, May 19, at Conseco Fieldhouse against the Minnesota Lynx (7:00 p.m.)
Dickson, a second-round draft pick from the University of South Florida, was acquired in a post-draft trade with the Sacramento Monarchs. Humphrey, from the University of Kentucky, was signed as a free agent prior to training camp. Both saw action during the Feverís final preseason game, Tuesday, at Chicago. Dickson was scoreless in five minutes of play, while Humphrey scored four points in nine minutes. Dickson started the Feverís second preseason game, a home loss to Los Angeles, but she missed her first seven shots and finished with two points.
