Fever Declines Option On Winters Contract

News Release | October 26, 2007
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Fever has declined its option on the contract of Head Coach Brian Winters, as announced by Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Kelly Krauskopf.

The decision closes a four-year era in which Winters guided the Fever to a 78-58 regular season record. Indiana advanced to the WNBA Playoffs in three consecutive seasons under the former NBA coach, including trips to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2005 and 2007. The third coach in Fever history, Winters was 5-7 in 12 playoff games with the Fever.

“After much discussion this postseason, we came to the conclusion that a new voice is needed to take over the direction of the team,” said Krauskopf. “Brian has been a good coach for our franchise, and a quality individual. We wish him well in his future endeavors.”

Indiana finished its 2007 regular season with a 21-13 record for the third straight season before advancing to the WNBA Playoffs. For 2008 season ticket information, visit FeverBasketball.com or call (317) 917-2500.
