Fever Clinches Third Straight Playoff Berth

News Release | August 5, 2007
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Fever has clinched a berth in the 2007 WNBA Playoffs, and tickets for the first home game (Round 1, Home Game 1) will go on sale immediately following tonight’s game at the Conseco Fieldhouse Box Office. Tickets can also be purchased beginning Monday on FeverBasketball.com.

Indiana’s first home playoff game will be a McDonald’s Family Night presented by The Indianapolis Star. A minimum purchase of four game tickets is required. With each ticket purchased, fans will receive a voucher redeemable for a free hot dog, chips, a soft drink and a T-shirt.

The Fever, 18-11 after Sunday’s win over Sacramento, has secured its third straight playoff berth and its fourth in franchise history. Indiana is currently competing for home-court advantage in the Eastern Conference First Round, which begins Thursday, Aug. 23. First-round playoff games are conducted Aug. 23-28, with the higher-seeded teams hosting games 2 and 3 of the best-of-three game series.

The top four teams in each conference qualify for the playoffs. Indiana is locked in a race with Connecticut, 16-11, for final playoff positioning as the No. 2 and 3 seeds – and likely will meet as first-round opponents. Detroit, first in the East at 22-6, owns the WNBA’s best record. Washington (12-15), New York (11-16) and Chicago (12-17) are battling for the East’s final playoff spot.

Seeding, pairings, dates and times will not be determined until the conclusion of the regular season, which ends Aug. 19.
