INDIANAPOLIS, June 10 (AP) -- Tammy Sutton-Brown tied career highs with 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Indiana Fever to an 80-61 victory over the New York Liberty on Sunday.

Sutton-Brown, a seventh-year center signed as a free agent in the offseason, shot 10-for-12 from the field. Tamika Whitmore added 22 points and six rebounds for Indiana (7-1), which avenged its only loss.

Sutton-Brown and Whitmore made up for an off night by Tamika Catchings. The league's No. 4 scorer was held to 14 points on 5-for-15 shooting.

Erin Thorn led New York (5-2) with 17 points.

The Fever led 63-46 in the fourth quarter before the Liberty went on a 15-8 run. A jumper by Thorn cut Indiana's lead to 71-61 with 4:39 left, but the Fever held the Liberty scoreless the rest of the game.

New York shot 61.5 percent in a 78-67 win over the Fever last Tuesday, but 38 percent on Sunday.

The Fever outrebounded the Liberty 42-23 and shot 51 percent to make up for committing 24 turnovers.

Indiana led 38-20 at halftime before New York found its shooting stroke. The Liberty shot 11-for-17 from the field in the third quarter, but Sutton-Brown scored 12 points in the period to give the Fever a 59-44 lead.

  • With her 14 points tonight, Tamika is two points of the 3,000-point plateau in her career.
  • Tonight's win is the Fever's eighth straight win at Conseco Fieldhouse against the New York Liberty. Indiana has a 14-12 advantage in the all-time series with New York.
  • Including tonight, the Fever has won its last 20 games in which it held the opposition under 70 points--a streak that extends back to the final game (vs. New York) of the 2005 regular season. The Liberty's 61 points tonight drops Indiana's defensive scoring average for 2007 to a league leading 67.8 ppg.
  • Tonight's game is the Fever's fourth in a row in which it has held the opposition to less than 10 points in the first quarter and the Liberty's 20 points in the first half represent the opposition's lowest total for any half this season.
  • Tammy Sutton-Brown's 22 points and 13 rebounds both tie her career-high and represent her first double-double in a Fever uniform. She is the second Indiana player (joining Tamika Catchings) to register a double-double this season.
  • Tammy Sutton-Brown and Tamika Whitmore each scored 22 points tonight, marking the 14th time in team history that two players have scored 20+ points in the same game. This is just the second time in those 14 games in which one of the two players was not Tamika Catching. But, it was the fourth time that one of the players was Tamika Whitmore.
  • New York's 17 steals tonight are the most by any team in the WNBA this season and they are the most ever by a Fever opponent at Conseco Fieldhouse. The 17 steals ranks as the second most ever by an opponent, overall, against the Fever.
  • Tonight's game is the Fever's first wire-to-wire win.
  • Having hit 11-12 FT today, the Fever has shot 90+ percent from the line in four games this season.

  • Indiana's 42 rebounds are its most this season and that is just two short of the Fever's all-time record for rebounds in a game. Indiana's 31 defensive rebounds ties its second most ever in a game.
  • New York's 23 rebounds today are its lowest total of the season.
  • The Liberty's five free throws made tied the fewest by any team in the WNBA this season, as did New York's eight attempts from the line.
  • Including tonight's nine, the Fever has had nine or more steals in four of the last five games.
  • Tully Bevilaqua's three steals are her most this season.
