Whitmore Earns MVP Honors

April 19, 2006
Indiana Fever forward Tamika Whitmore has been named the French women's league (LFB) MVP following the conclusion of its regular season. Whitmore earned the honor after leading Mourenx to postseason play in its debut season.

The award is based on statistical performance and Whitmore was the clear choice, averaging league highs in scoring (22.7 points per game) and rebounding (9.8 rebounds per game). Mourenx enters the playoffs as a No. 8 seed after finishing the regular season with a record of 12-14.

Whitmore, a seven-year WNBA veteran, recently signed a free agent contract with the Fever after stints in Los Angeles and New York. She currently ranks ninth in WNBA history having appeared in 32 career playoff games. Whitmore will report to training camp for her first season with the Fever following the conclusion of her playoff run in France.
