F.E.V.E.R. Tour Tips Off

Indiana Fever News Release
Indianapolis, Jan. 13, 2004
Indiana Fever point guard Niele Ivey visited the fifth-grade class of Indianapolis Public School #93, George H. Fisher Elementary School, to tipoff an eight-school schedule Tuesday that represents the WNBA club’s annual F.E.V.E.R. Tour.

For Every Victory Earns Respect is an annual series of visits that Fever players make through IPS fifth-grade classrooms, teaching boys and girls about the value of setting goals and achieving them.

Ivey spoke about the importance of setting goals and working toward her dreams to the collection of 25 students, describing her experience as a women’s NCAA national championship winner with Notre Dame in 2001; her thrill to be a WNBA player; and many of her other life stories. In addition, Ivey shared how she was able to reach those achievements, and gave the children advice on how to reach their own dreams through hard work in the classroom, extra effort, belief in themselves, having respect for others and never giving up.

She answered several questions from the class and signed autographs to close the appearance.

Ivey and other Fever players will continue the F.E.V.E.R. schedule, Thursday, at 1:00 p.m. at IPS #74, Theodore Potter Elementary School. The rest of the 2004 F.E.V.E.R. schedule is:
