Fever Conducts Jr. Hoops League Basketball Clinic

June 12, 2005

As part of its grassroots basketball development initiative, the Indiana Fever has partnered with the YMCA for the sixth straight season to present the YMCA Fever Jr. Hoops League, presented by Community Health Network. A unique summer basketball league for girls ages 6-15, league participants receive a ticket to a Fever game and a league t-shirt. The league finals are hosted at Conseco Fieldhouse on August 6th.

On Sunday, June 12, the Fever conducted a Jr. Hoops League Basketball Clinic at the Baxter YMCA. This was a special opportunity for league participants to meet and interact with Fever players Yolanda Paige and Jenni Benningfield. The event also marked the start of the WNBA’s new Be Smart–Be Fit–Be Youself program. Nearly 50 children participated in the clinic conducted by Pacers Sports & Entertainment Camps Director, Darnell Hillman.

The Be Smart–Be Fit–Be Youself program encourages teens and women of all ages to learn more about their bodies and the importance of physical fitness. This program allows Fever players to connect with their community and fans off the court.
