Fever In The Community

The Indiana Fever held its annual Read to Achieve Tipoff Event at
Indianapolis Public School #42 (Elder W. Diggs School). Fever players
Ebony Hoffman, Kasha Terry, and Tan White each participated in a reading
assembly with 200 children. The Fever also donated 200 books to the
school.
Each child received a book about managing money and a t-shirt from
FORUM Credit Union, the Fever's Read to Achieve sponsor. Each child
also received a paper bank provided by FORUM Credit Union.
Indiana Fever players were welcomed with performances by the Y-Kids and
the B.A.D. Club Cadets which emphasized the importance of reading.
Hoffman, Terry, and White each read books to individual classrooms.
Afterward, the students were able to ask questions and obtain
autographs.
The Fever donated a variety of other prizes that the school will use as
part of its Accelerated Reading Program. Students will read books and
take quizzes to accumulate "book dollars" which can be spent in the
media center treasure room to buy autographed Fever memorabilia.
