Svetlana Abrosimova averaged 8.3 points and 3.3 rebounds for the Russian National Team at the 2000 Olympic Games. She won a silver medal at the 1998 and competed in the 1999 European Championships.

Abosimova was selected by the Minnesota Lynx in the first round (seventh overall) of the 2001 WNBA Draft after being selected to the Kodak All-American first team during final two seasons at the Univerisity of Connecticut. The 6-2 forward has made two playoff appearances with the Lynx.
