Losses in this league can be devastating. Of course, some players handle losing better than others. But would losing a tough game affect who you hang out with afterward? Taking it a step further, would you want to go out to dinner with a player from the team that just handed your squad a defeat?
We asked several players whether or not they like to socialize with players from the opposing team after a game -- especially after a tough loss. Most said they'd have no problem remaining friends with their opponents off the court. Here are their responses:
| Tamika Catchings, Indiana Fever "Oh yeah. Win or lose. Definitely. The game of basketball is a game. That's what it is. And one of the best things about playing in the WNBA is the relationships you build with the other players." |

Katie Smith, Detroit Shock "Yes, I do. I'm one of 'those.' Winning or losing doesn't really affect it for me. Some people are grouchy or tired after losing, but I do. If you haven't seen someone for a while, yeah, I will hook up with someone after a game. There are some people you only get to see a couple of times a year, so it's sometimes fun." |
| Lisa Leslie, Los Angeles Sparks "It has nothing to do with players or the game itself. I'm really just not that social. I'm very family oriented and I don't have many friends outside of my family. I have a lot of cousins -- 20 or more -- so I already have that friend network built in. My sister is also my best girlfriend, so I'm not really the hang-out type of player. That said, I think I have really improved a lot in hanging out with my teammates. I've gone out to eat with them and really enjoy that." |

Kendra Wecker, San Antonio Silver Stars "I do, though it's a little harder after a loss. It is always good to see some familiar faces, people that you played with or against in college or maybe some other friends that you've met around the league through common experiences like USA Basketball." |
| Candice Dupree, Chicago Sky "Yes, I don't know a whole lot of players... but the ones I do, we will go out after a game." |

Temeka Johnson, Los Angeles Sparks "Occasionally I will. It more depends on the timeframe we have after a game or how badly we lost. I am all business when I get on the floor, but away from the game I am still the same person and like to go out to eat and hang out with friends even from the other team." |
