WNBA Players’ New Year’s Resolutions

January 1, 2005 - A clean slate... a fresh start... a new year... and with so much that they hope to accomplish, several WNBA players share their resolutions and goals, both personal and professional, for 2005.

Alana Beard, Washington Mystics
"First, to deepen my knowledge and become more savvy of God's word, and second, to enjoy life to the fullest!"

Katie Douglas, Connecticut Sun
"I am planning on giving up sweets, candy AND Diet Coke for the New Year's. They are my big weaknesses and sometimes I think I might be addicted to all of them. Plus, I have a wedding dress to fit into by the year's end and think that I should try to give up them in order to look well on the wedding day."

Tangela Smith, Sacramento Monarchs
"My New Year's resolution would be to stay away from the junk food and start eating healthier. Also to find more time to spend with friends and family because they always say I'm so busy. Thats about it."

Michelle Snow, Houston Comets
"1. A closer walk with God.
2. Enjoy each moment as though its my last.
3. Always say I love you to my family and friends.
4. Follow my intuition.
5. Dunk twice in one game."

Charlotte Smith-Taylor, Charlotte Sting
"Stop hiding behind fear and pursue my musical talents!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have gifts that need to be shared with the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

DeMya Walker, Sacramento Monarchs
"My New Year's resolution is to be more of a gym rat... despite my need to be out and about, lol. Also, I want to be more understanding of other people's point of views and more receptive to new ideas."

Toccara Williams, San Antonio Silver Stars
"I do have a couple of New Year's resolutions that I would like to share. They are to work harder to become better at doing things, to be more open with people because many times I just hold in what I feel and do not say anything, to be more assertive and to continue to pursue my goals, always giving it 100 percent at all times."

Shereka Wright, Phoenix Mercury
"My New Year's resoultion is to be proactive in everything I do. Whether it be working on my basketball skills or me working on my image as professional athlete by the way I dress, speak, and carry myself! Also, to enjoy life as it is!"
