Photographic Memory: Minnesota’s Katie Smith

WNBA.com's "Photographic Memory" asks players to look at a photo of themselves and talk about what it captures -- what was going through their mind at that moment of the game and what the photo reveals about their style. Here, Minnesota Lynx guard Katie Smith talks about beating Houston and playing with Teresa Edwards.

Finally!
"Relief, and then excitement here. This was the first time that we beat Houston. And it's obviously a respect thing between T and I at getting the job done."

What is it like having Teresa Edwards as a teammate, having played with her for USA Basketball?
"It's fun. I have a lot of respect for her and just what she's done and what she brings to our team. And she has confidence in me, and just to be out there on the same floor, it's a lot of fun. Because, as I said, I feel really good that she's going to handle any situation thrown at her. She gives me a lot of confidence out there."

You've been described as Minnesota's go-to player, what do you think of that?
"I mean, I guess it's true. I hopefully get the job done in whatever way it is, whether it's defense or offense, but I feel like I'm pretty consistent and can bring something to the table no matter what it is. Obviously the opposition usually keys on me and hopefully opens things up for my teammates."

What does coach Suzie McConnell Serio bring to the Lynx?
"She's just brought a fresh mentality, practices are a little shorter, her personality is great. She's just a competitor, but she's really easy to get along with and communicate with, so I've enjoyed my time with her. She's a great teacher and uses her personnel well."
