Support From Fans and Teammates
"It’s been great. My phone's been ringing non-stop, and obviously that's better than it not ringing at all. But it's great. A lot of encouraging words. And it's not the end of the world. People have gone through it before, people have gone through worse things, and come back from it. So, I just use that to motivate me and encourage me. It's been great, though, the support has been unbelievable."
It Can Be Done
"Sheryl Swoopes has gone through it, Tamika Catchings … There are a lot of people that have gone through it, and I think the biggest thing is just keeping my head up, keeping a positive frame of mind and staying positive. And my biggest thing is probably going to be being patient with myself, giving myself time to heal and stuff like that. That's going to be the biggest thing for me."
"My goal for next year is to come back better than I was [in 2003]. Every year, no matter what circumstances are put in front of you, you need to come back improved, and so that's going to be my goal. Not only getting healthy and getting my knee better, but all around coming back better, more mentally focused, mentally stronger. Take this thing and turn it into something positive instead of something negative."
