Photographic Memory: Sparks guard Tamecka Dixon

WNBA.com's "Photographic Memory" asks players to look at a photo of themselves and talk about what it captures -- what was going through their mind at that moment of the game and what the photo reveals about their style. Here, guard Tamecka Dixon talks about some of the moves in her offensive arsenal that make both her and the Los Angeles Sparks a consistently dangerous threat. Whether shooting or slashing, she always scores.

Q. So this is what you look like in action. Are you driving to the basket for a layup?
"It looks like I'm trying to get to the basket, trying to get past my defender, and just trying to get to the hole or create an opportunity for my teammates."

Q. Would you say that's something you do often in a game, penetrate and either dish or drive to the rack?
"Definitely. I think that's my staple, just try to get to the hole anyway I can, and I look kind of low there, so I'm going to get there."

Q. Some people would say that beating someone off the dribble is a natural, instinctual thing, but how often do you practice? Do you have stutter-step drills for your footwork in practice?
"Very often. Every day in practice. We play a lot of one-on-one basketball, trying to defend each other, and obviously playing one on one, you've got to try to get past your defender. We work on it a lot."

Q. Do you know how this shot ended up?
"I'm hoping it went in. Definitely hoping it went in."

Q. Your teammates know your game, so when they see you going on one-on-one do they clear out?
"Right, yeah, any time they see me go one on one, they space out. They know either I'm going to score or somebody's going to be open for an open look."
