On Tuesday, San Antonio battled Detroit in a matchup of the Western and Eastern leaders. With Hammon on the court for 34 minutes, Crossley only saw nine minutes on the floor. Detroit won the game 84-79 and Crossley went home with only 1 point and 1 rebound.
Phoenix came to town on Thursday and Crossley, fired up and ready for a comeback, received a solid 27 minutes. In that time she rivaled Phoenix's top scorers, becoming San Antonio's most potent offensive weapon. While the Mercury's Diana Taurasi had a game-high 24 points, Crossley played five minutes less than Taurasi and put home San Antonio's team high of 21 points. Crossley's hands were hot but the night was still frigid for the Silver Stars, as they came up short again 84-79.
Hammon was out for Saturday's matchup against the Los Angeles Sparks due to a sprained foot and veteran Vickie Johnson also couldn't play due to an Achilles' tendon strain. So the Silver Stars turned to shooting machine Shanna Crossley to ignite the offense. While she did not start, she played 26 minutes and grabbed posted a game-high and career-high 26 points to guide the Stars to an 86-67 victory.
Crossley is usually on the sidelines for the starting whistle and she is still a toddler in professional basketball years,
but she has made it evident that when the time comes and her team calls, she
will step up and hit the shots that will help her team to go home a winner.
For providing solid bench depth and being a big-time long-distance threat for the Silver Stars, Shanna Crossley receives this week's Peak Performer honor.
