On the Road With...
Mercury’s Anna DeForge
WNBA players spend a lot of time on the road, whether traveling in the United States for the WNBA season, playing overseas in the offseason, or, if they are lucky, representing their country in top international tournaments such as the Olympics. Prior to heading overseas to play with Wisla Can-Pack in Krakow, Mercury guard Anna DeForge talked about some of her previous trips and travel experiences. Her trip to Poland this offseason was her first significant journey overseas which for this midwestern girl, can be quite adjustment. In her Euro League travels alone, she will get to more countries than she has ever visited before in her life.
Q.
What are some countries you've gotten to travel to for basketball or personal
reasons?
"I've just mainly been in the States, but I was just in France
briefly last offseason prior to the 2005 season. It wasn't that bad."

"Vancouver and Toronto. I also think I'd really enjoy Italy."
Q. Do you have a favorite place to vacation?
"Anywhere tropical with
a beach and sun and some water where I can just relax. I've shaken the Midwest
roots."
Q. What are your favorite WNBA cities to visit?
"Seattle.
And it will be Chicago since they're coming in. I love Chicago. New York is always
fun for the couple of days we're there, but I can't stay there too long."
Q.
What is your favorite city to visit when you want to go shopping?
"Definitely
New York. They have everything you want and don't want there. My favorite store
there is Gucci or the Armani Exchange. Back home, it's the Scottsdale Fashion
Square Mall in Camelback. I know that city."
Q. How about for a good
meal when out on the town?
"My favorite restaurant is the Cheesecake Factory.
They have one in Phoenix and every city. Phoenix has great places to dine out
at. I also really like Del Frisco's."
