On The Road With Kara Braxton

Currently, Detroit Shock center Kara Braxton is making her presence felt on the court over in Poland. But the European country is just the latest in a long list of destinations Braxton has experienced through the game of basketball. A veteran of many seasons overseas, stints with USA Basketball and three campaigns in the WNBA, Braxton has come to enjoy taking her skills on the road.

WNBA.com talked to the 2007 All-Star to find out where she's been, where she'd like to visit, and what have been her favorite stops along the way.

Q: What are some of the countries you’ve gotten to travel to for basketball or personal reasons?

BRAXTON: “Turkey, Poland, Korea, the Czech Republic, Brazil. I’ve traveled to all those playing overseas basketball and with USA Basketball. I love playing overseas.”

Q: What is one place you haven’t been to that you’d like to see?

BRAXTON: “You know what, it’s so easy to go to, but Mexico. I’ve never been there.”

Q: What is your favorite place to go to on vacation?

BRAXTON: “Miami.”

Q: Choose one of the following: on a beach, hiking and camping out, or visiting a museum?

BRAXTON: “On a beach.”

Q: What are your favorite WNBA cities to visit?

BRAXTON: “Hmmm… that’s a tough one. I like Indianapolis. Probably just Indianapolis.”

Q: What is the best WNBA city to go out shopping in, and what are some of your favorite stores?

BRAXTON: “Maybe New York. I like Tall Girl, of course. H & M. I like Express.”

Q: What is the best WNBA city to dine out in, and what are some of your favorite restaurants?

BRAXTON: “Chicago and Fogo de Chao. It’s a Brazilian restaurant. I love that restaurant. Actually, can you guys get me reservations (laughs)? I like Italian, Chinese… I’m really open to a lot of different foods.”

Q: What are the best places to shop and dine out in your city?

BRAXTON: “Southern Fire, it’s a soul food restaurant. Callaways, which is a place up the street from the Palace. They have unlimited crab legs, so it’s great. There’s Sweetwater, which is just a tavern downtown, but it has the best wings in Detroit. Those are the three that I can name off the top of my head.”
