On The Road With Seimone Augustus

Entering just her third professional season in 2008, Minnesota Lynx star Seimone Augustus has seen her share of the world thanks to basketball. Though the Louisiana native stayed home to play her college ball at LSU, Augustus has done a great deal of traveling thanks to her time with the USA national team and two winters playing overseas.

The 2006 WNBA Rookie of the Year is currently playing overseas with Dynamo Moscow in Russia and she spoke recently with WNBA.com about her hoops-related travels and where she'd really like to go next time she hits the road.

Q. Where are you from? Tell us about your hometown.

A. "I'm from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Growing up there was good. It was really laid-back. I still have a lot of family there. I'm an only child, but I had a lot of cousins. It was a fun experience, a different childhood from most other people."

Q. What are some countries you've gotten to travel to for basketball?

A. "Turkey, France, Germany, Brazil, Russia… pretty much every part of Europe (laughs)."

Q. What is once place you haven't been to that you'd like to see?

A. "Egypt."

Q. What is your favorite place to go on vacation?

A. "Probably home, because I don't get to get home too much."

Q. Would you rather spend a vacation on a beach, hiking and camping out or visiting a museum?

A. "None of them are great options for me. :"

Q. What are your favorite WNBA cities to visit?

A. "None (laughs). No, I'm just playing… It's gotta be L.A. with Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles. And New York. They're my favorites right now."

Q. Which is the best WNBA city to shop in and what are some of your favorite stores?

A. "Minneapolis. We have the Mall of America! That's it. That's all you need!"

Q. What is the best WNBA city to dine out in and what are some of your favorite restaurants?

A. "New York has some great soul food restaurants… I think it's called Sylvia's. But L.A. has Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles."

Q. What are the best places to shop and dine out in your city?

A. "I love Benihana outside of Minneapolis. But for shopping, it's definitely the Mall of America. And Albertville Outlet Mall. There's a lot there, too."
