It's your favorite article of the year, music lovers. It's time once again to look back on the offseason's top roster changes. The exciting part? It's all set to music.

The unleashing of rookie stars Candace Parker and Sylvia Fowles upon the WNBA is reminding many fans of the arrival of Bird and Magic in the NBA back in the early '80s. Therefore, it makes perfect sense to focus our musical interludes on No. 1 tunes from that wonderful period in time.

Anyway, from momentous draft-day selections to veteran players finding new homes, we'll take a move-by-move look at the offseason's biggest maneuvers.

So without further ado, let's start the music up once again… It's time to count 'em down!

10. "Take On Me," a-ha
-The Houston Comets sign free agents Shannon Johnson and Mwadi Mabika
OK, so taking on these two veteran guards probably doesn't make the Comets a championship contender, but it does solidify a young, unreliable backcourt that went through some growing pains in 2007. If these experienced pros can get the ball to Tina Thompson and Michelle Snow down low and give Matee Ajavon and Ashley Shields some pointers along the way, I Can't Fight This Feeling that it'll only help Karleen Thompson's squad down the road.

9. "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)," Eurythmics
-Atlanta Dream Expansion Draft
It remains to be seen how sweet the expansion Atlanta Dream will be in their debut season, but it's hard to argue with names like Katie Feenstra, Ivory Latta and Brazilian up-and-comers Iziane Castro Marques and Erika Desouza. The Dream also turned Ann Wauters, their Expansion Draft pick from New York, into second-year forward Camille Little in a trade with San Antonio. New coach/GM Marynell Meadors is saying, "Start Me Up!" in the ATL.

8. "Up Where We Belong," Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes
-The Minnesota Lynx sign free agent Anna DeForge
A native of Northern Michigan who grew up in Wisconsin, DeForge doesn't answer Minnesota's questions down low, but her experience and shooting from the outside could lift rising stars Seimone Augustus, Lindsey Harding and first-round pick Candice Wiggins up where they belong.

Penny Taylor and Belinda Snell, two vital cogs in the Mercury's title run last season, could miss the 2008 campaign to train with the Australian national team.

7. "Jump," Van Halen
-The Washington Mystics trade DeLisha Milton-Jones to the Los Angeles Sparks for Taj McWilliams-Franklin and a first-round pick in 2009
GM Linda Hargrove gets up… and nothing gets her down. It's not clear why Milton-Jones reportedly wanted to jump off the Mystics riverboat, but the Mystics got a veteran frontcourt star in return. McWilliams-Franklin adds size, bulk, rebounding and defense to a somewhat-less-than-aggressive forward line. The trade doesn't do much to immediately address Washington's need at point guard with Nikki Teasley missing the season due to pregnancy, but perhaps the draft pick with benefit them in '09. As David Lee Roth once said, "You've got to roll with the punches to get to what's real."

6. "(Just Like) Starting Over," John Lennon
-The Connecticut Sun trade Katie Douglas to the Indiana Fever for Tamika Whitmore
Trading your star player necessitates a "starting over" of sorts. And with the loss of Douglas, Nykesha Sales and Margo Dydek both sitting out the season and several other role players leaving via free agency, it's clear that this is precisely what's happening in Connecticut. But with the arrival of the Physical Whitmore (a former All-Star and a capable scorer and post presence), Sandrine Gruda joining the club from her native France and the additions of rookies Amber Holt and Ketia Swanier, coach Mike Thibault no doubt hopes his Sun are just reloading in 2008, not rebuilding.

5. "Missing You," John Waite
-The questionable status of Penny Taylor and Belinda Snell for the Phoenix Mercury
There is talk that Australian national teamers Taylor and Snell may miss the entire 2008 WNBA campaign to focus on their preparations Down Under for the Olympics in Beijing. The loss of Taylor, in particular, would leave a gaping hole in the defending champs' lineup. New coach Corey Gaines and his Mighty Mercury did add strong and beefy forwards Le'coe Willingham and Barb Farris -- Another Brick in the Wall, so to speak -- to bolster their frontcourt. But Taylor's inside and out abilities in Phoenix's run-and-gun offense -- not to mention her versatility on defense -- will be hard to replace.

4. "Hello," Lionel Richie
-The 2008 WNBA Draft
Hello, WNBA… Is it me you're looking for? Candace Parker may be the most highly touted WNBA prospect in league history. Sylvia Fowles would have been the No. 1 pick in nearly any other draft. And Candice Wiggins is coming off a postseason in which she scored the fourth most points in NCAA Tournament history. It's not a stretch to say that because of these selections, Los Angeles, Chicago and Minnesota are immediate playoff contenders. That's the best proof of all that this is the deepest draft in WNBA history.

3. "You Belong to the City," Glenn Frey
-The Indiana Fever add Katie Douglas via trade
We've already considered this trade from the Sun side of things, but it could have an even larger effect on the Fever, who were a single win from reaching the WNBA Finals last fall. Douglas comes home to her native city and state where fans loved her in both high school and college (Purdue). Her arrival also makes Indiana a legit favorite in the Eastern Conference if all-world forward Tamika Catchings is healthy enough to play on Opening Day.

Sparks coach Michael Cooper will get an enormous frontcourt boost with the arrival of Candace Parker and the return of Lisa Leslie.

2. "Open Arms," Journey
-The Seattle Storm sign free agents Sheryl Swoopes and Yolanda Griffith and trade for Swin Cash
"WANTED: Multiple-time All-Star with experience, skill and WNBA Championship pedigree. If you fit all requirements, we'll accept you with… open arms." Such was the case this offseason as Storm GM Karen Bryant compiled a Yankees-like set of veterans -- Sheryl Swoopes, Yolanda Griffith and Swin Cash -- to complement the all-world duo of league MVP Lauren Jackson and point guard Sue Bird. Sure, it's a veteran-laden roster for new Seattle coach Brian Agler, but if everyone gels quickly and stays healthy, the Storm could be in the running, Against All Odds, to accept the championship trophy at season's end with… you guessed it… open arms.

1. "Purple Rain," Prince
-The Los Angeles Sparks add Candace Parker, DeLisha Milton-Jones and Marie Ferdinand-Harris... plus the return of Lisa Leslie
Everybody Wants to Rule the World here in the WNBA, and the Sparks might just be the favorites to do it in 2008. They won the Draft Lottery and the rights to Parker, the consensus top pick in the draft out of Tennessee. They picked up Milton-Jones, a versatile post player, in a trade last week. And they inked free agent Ferdinand-Harris, a former All-Star, who adds some slash to the Sparks on the wing. Oh, and Lisa Leslie, arguably the best player in the history of the WNBA, is returning to L.A. after sitting out last season to have her first child. Coach Michael Cooper is hoping that the Sparks' purple reigns in the WNBA in 2008.
