June 7: Temeka Johnson
Washington Mystics

Just two weeks into her professional career and Washington Mystics point guard Temeka Johnson already has two double-doubles. Not bad for a player who has been called "too short" wherever she has been.

But even at 5-3, Johnson currently leads the league in assists with 7.7 per game and 46 overall in six games. In the first of her breakout games last week, the recent L.S.U.-grad tallied 11 assists and 13 points in a home loss against the Liberty on Wednesday night, June 1. Proving that she is no fluke, Johnson then netted 10 assists and 12 points in the 74-71 win against the Lynx at home on Friday. Rounding out the week, she finished with 10 points and 8 assists in a loss in her first career game in Madison Square Garden on Sunday.

Playing alongside second-year guard Alana Beard and talented frontcourt players in Chasity Melvin and DeLisha Milton-Jones, don't expect Johnson's assist numbers to shrink. She may be short in stature, but this week's Dish and Assist winner was head and shoulders above the competition.
