The WNBA's Most Improved Player in 2000, New York Liberty center Tari Phillips earned her third All-Star appearance -- and second as a starter -- in 2002. She finshed the game with four points and 10 rebounds in 22 minutes of action.
Last season, Phillips posted five 20-point or more performances, leading the Liberty in points per game (14.1), rebounds per game (6.8), field-goal percentage (.491) and steals per game (1.8) and earning All-WNBA second team honors.
So far in 2003*, Phillips has started off well below her season averages over the last few years. With the Liberty only two games into their season, Phillips is averaging 7.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
