A four-time WNBA All-Star known for her awesome passing skills, Ticha Penicheiro was selected to the starting lineup by the fans for the third time in 2002.
Penicheiro led the WNBA in assists last year with an average of 8.0 per game, which also set a new record for highest average in a season. Penicheiro has now led the league in assists for five consecutive seasons. Despite missing eight games in 2002 with a right shoulder sprain, Penicheiro still managed to lead the WNBA in total assists for the season with 192.
With only three games under her belt this season*, Penicheiro has started off on track in the assists department, averaging 7.3 assists per game, but her scoring has started off slow at 4.7 points per game in the early goings.
