Last year's Rookie of the Year, Tamika Catchings showed the Indiana Fever -- and WNBA fans everywhere who voted her on to the starting lineup for the 2002 Eastern Conference All-Star team -- that she was worth the wait after missing the entire 2001 season recovering from a torn ACL.
Catchings was runner-up for the 2002 Defensive Player of the Year award and third in MVP voting, and she became the first Fever player ever to be named to the All-WNBA First Team. She was also the only player in the WNBA to lead her team in points, rebounds and assists, and in addition to that, she led the Fever in steals, blocked shots, minutes played and three-point shooting.
So far in 2003*, Catchings hasn't missed a beat, averaging 18.5 points and 8.7 boards in the Fever's first two games.
All right, you make the call: it's up to you whether or not to vote Catchings back into the starting lineup of this year's All-Star Game: Cast your vote.
Of course she's not the only Eastern Conference forward putting up strong numbers in the early goings. Need a little more info before you cast your vote? Here's a quick look at the stats to date of the Eastern Conference forwards on this year's All-Star ballot: Stats Comparison.
