August 7 – The Time Machine is hitting the "rookie wall." No other way I can explain it.

On the bright side, we did beat Matthew Brennan's picks again, but that comes to be expected. I blame the decline in success rate of The Time Machine on the fact that the WNBA as a whole is in transition. Winding down. Top teams are resting. Others are taking a look at young players.

How else do you explain a week when some of the top scorers were Alana Beard, Michelle Snow, Nicole Ohlde and Janell Burse? Lisa Leslie was automatic until recently. Since August 1, two of her last three games have been duds by her standards: 17 PRA on August 1 and 18 PRA on August 5. The Sparks, meanwhile, have the Western Conference wrapped up. Coincidence? Think not.

So keep that in mind this week. The Time Machine doesn't care about playoff positioning, unfortunately. It only cares about match-ups. So you've been warned.
