Overseas Update - Dec. 31

Sancho Lytte's return to action highlights our latest Overseas Update, as three Dream players had an active schedule in Turkey, including Angel McCoughtry's Fenerbahce team winning the first showdown with Lyttle's Galatasaray squad. With the Brazilian league still on break for the holidays, the three players in Turkey remain the only active players overseas in recent weeks. Updates on all of the Dream's overseas players follows below:

Erika de Souza – Sport Recife (Brazil): Sport Recife has not played since improving to 3-0 on Dec. 9. The league is currently on a break and will resume play on Jan. 10. In de Souza’s only game of the year thus far in the Nov. 30 season opener, she posted a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.

Tiffany Hayes – Sport Recife (Brazil): Sport Recife has not played since improving to 3-0 on Dec. 9. The league is currently on a break and will resume play on Jan. 10. Hayes is averaging 12.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists in the three games this season.

Aneika Henry – Homend Antakya Belediyesi (Turkey): Henry played in three Turkish League games since the last update on Dec. 20. She had 20 points and eight rebounds in a 66-59 loss to Konak on Dec. 22, nine points and eight boards in a 70-55 loss to Mersin on Dec. 25, and 11 points and eight more rebounds during a 77-64 victory over Canik Bld on Dec. 29. Henry is now averaging 13.8 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 13 Turkish League games for Antakya, which is 7-7 and in sixth place. Antakya had also previously finished the EuroCup regular season with a 2-4 mark for third place in Group A, with Henry averaging 12.5 points and 12.5 rebounds.

Sancho Lyttle – Galatasaray (Turkey): Lyttle returned to action with Galatasaray on Dec. 14, and has since played in five games. In four Turkish League games, she has averaged 12.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals in 20.8 minutes per game for her team, which is 13-1 and in first place in the league. Her best performance was a double-double with 13 points, 12 rebounds and three steals during a 75-42 thumping of Besiktas on Dec. 21. She also played in her team’s 90-39 thrashing of Kibirkstis in the EuroLeague on Dec. 18, collecting 14 points, nine boards and three steals. Galatasaray is now 5-1 and tied for first in Group C in EuroLeague competition.

Angel McCoughtry – Fenerbahce (Turkey): McCoughtry played in three Turkish League games – all victories – since the last update on Dec. 20. She played sparingly in a 58-45 victory over Istanbul Univ. on Dec. 21, scoring just two points, but in a Christmas Day showdown with undefeated Galatasaray, she totaled 22 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals in a 79-67 win. She followed that with 16 points and four assists in an 86-65 victory over Ceyhan Bld on Dec. 28. She is now averaging 16.0 points, 5.9 rebounds. 3.5 steals and 2.8 assists in 10 Turkish League games for Fenerbahce, which is now 12-2. In EuroLeague competition, she is averaging 17.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.5 steals in six games, which have all been victories.
