Overseas Update - April 8

The following is an update on how Atlanta Dream players fared in recent games with their overseas teams. You can find links to all of their teams’ web pages and get more detailed information by clicking here.

Erika de Souza – Sport Recife (Brazil): Sport Recife completed an undefeated season by finishing a two-game sweep of Americana in the league finals with a 62-57 victory on April 6. In the final game, de Souza had another double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Sport Recife finished the regular season in first place at 6-0, and went 4-0 in the playoffs. In their 10 games, de Souza averaged 15.1 points, which ranked third in the league, and league bests of 10.9 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.

Tiffany Hayes – Besiktas (Turkey): Hayes completed her commitment to Besiktas, which fell to 6-19 last week. Hayes averaged 8.8 points and 2.3 rebounds in eight games with the club. She previously played for Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion of Israel, and averaged 18.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.7 steals in 10 games with that club.

Aneika Henry – Rivas Ecopolis (Spain): Rivas Ecopolis finished the Spanish League regular season in first place with a 19-1 record, and received a first-round bye into the semifinals of the league’s playoffs. They will play Cadi ICG in the semifinals. Henry averaged 9.6 points and 7.6 boards in Spanish League games during the regular season for Rivas Ecopolis. She also finished EuroLeague competition averaging 11.4 points and 8.5 rebounds in 15 EuroLeague games.

Armintie Herrington – Besiktas (Turkey): Herrington completed her commitment to Besiktas, which fell to 6-19 last week. In her 11 games with the club, Herrington averaged 9.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 3.6 steals.

Cathrine Kraayeveld – Winnus (South Korea): Kraayeveld started the South Korean League season with Shinhan Bank,w hich finished the season 24-11 in a tie for first place. In her 15 games with the team, Kraayeveld averaged 14.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists. She then played 10 games for Winnus in the same league, averaging 11.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals for the team which finished 13-22 and in sixth place.

Yelena Leuchanka – Liaoning (China): Leuchanka played in 18 games this season for Liaoning, which finished 14-8 and in third place in the Chinese League. In her 18 games with the club, Leuchanka averaged 17.7 points and 9.1 rebounds.

Sancho Lyttle – Galatasaray (Turkey): No. 2 seed Galatasaray opened the quarterfinals of the Turkish League playoffs with a 67-61 win over No. 7 Atakya on April 6 in the first game of the best-of-three series. Lyttle had 17 points and nine rebounds in the victory after averaging 11.5 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.0 steals in 25 Turkish League games during the regular season. Lyttle also finished the EuroLeague campaign averaging 11.5 points, 7.2 boards and 2.6 steals in 17 EuroLeague games, helping her team reach the Final Eight.

Angel McCoughtry – Fenerbahce (Turkey): Top-seeded Fenerbahce won its opening game in the quarterfinals of the Turkish League playoffs, defeating No. 8 Ceyhan Bld 85-62 on April 6 to start the best-of-three series. In the victory, McCoughtry had 15 points, four assists and two rebounds. In 20 Turkish League regular-season games, she averaged a team-high 15.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.5 steals. She also finished the EuroLeague campaign averaging 15.3 points, 8.1 boards and 2.3 steals in 19 EuroLeague games, leading her team to the Final of the EuroLeague championship tournament.

Jasmine Thomas – Vologda-Chevakata (Russia): Vologda-Chevakata closed the Russian League regular season with a 69-49 upset of second-place Spartak on April 1 to finish the season with a sixth-place 7-11 record, then started the quarterfinal round of the playoffs with a 91-80 upset of No. 3 Nadezhda on April 5 in the first game of the best-of-three series. In the win over Spartak, Thomas had eight points and six rebounds to finish the regular season averaging 8.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 18 games. In the victory over Nadezhda, she poured in 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Thomas also played in all 12 of the team’s EuroCup games this season before the team was eliminated from that competition, averaging 10.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists.

Le'Coe Willingham – Perfumerias Avenida (Spain): Perfumerias Avenida finished the Spanish League regular season in second place with a 17-3 record, and received a first-round bye into the semifinals of the league’s playoffs. Their semifinal opponent has not yet been determined. Willingham averaged 10.5 points and 6.5 boards in 14 Spanish League regular-season games this season for Perfumerias. Willingham also averaged 12.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists in nine EuroLeague games this season before her team was eliminated from the playoffs.
