Overseas Update - March 18

Sancho Lyttle and Angel McCoughtry helped their teams advance to the EuroLeague Final Eight, while the Dream's players in Brazil await the start of their playoffs. Updates on all of the Dream's overseas players follows below:

Matee Ajavon – Mersin (Turkey): Mersin dropped a 65-57 decision to Konak on March 16 to fall to 13-11 in the Turkish League. Ajavon scored just two points in the loss, which was her lowest scoring output of the season, and came after back-to-back 13-point performances. In 24 games in the Turkish League season, Ajavon is averaging 11.6 points, 3.8 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. Also this season in 10 EuroCup competitions, she averaged 14.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.8 steals.

Erika de Souza – Sport Recife (Brazil): Sport Recife has not played since ending the regular season with an 87-44 victory over Brasilia/CSUV 1 that gave the team a record of 12-2 and a first-round bye in the playoffs. They will open their semifinal-round playoff series on March 29 against the winner of the first-round series between Ourimbah and Maranhao. In 13 games this season for Sport Recife, de Souza is averaging 10.6 points and 6.8 rebounds.

Tiffany Hayes – Sport Recife (Brazil): Sport Recife has not played since ending the regular season with an 87-44 victory over Brasilia/CSUV 1 that gave the team a record of 12-2 and a first-round bye in the playoffs. They will open their semifinal-round playoff series on March 29 against the winner of the first-round series between Ourimbah and Maranhao. Hayes has played in 11 games this season, averaging 12.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists per contest.

Aneika Henry – Homend Antakya Belediyesi (Turkey): Henry did not play during an 83-70 loss to Botas on March 16, which dropped Antakya’s record to 9-15 in the Turkish League. Henry is averaging 13.8 points and 9.6 rebounds – which ranks fifth in the league – in 21 Turkish League games for Antakya. Antakya had also previously finished the EuroCup regular season with a 2-4 mark for third place in Group A, with Henry averaging 12.5 points and 12.5 rebounds.

Sancho Lyttle – Galatasaray (Turkey): Galatasaray advanced to the EuroLeague Final Eight by completing a two-game sweep of Perfumerias Avenida with a 75-54 victory on March 14. The quarterfinal round will begin on April 7. Lyttle totaled 13 points, five rebounds and three steals in the victory, and is now averaging 14.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.1 steals in nine EuroLeague games. Galatasaray did not play in the Turkish League last week and remains 22-1 in the Turkish League. In 13 Turkish League games this season, Lyttle is averaging 11.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.7 steals.

Angel McCoughtry – Fenerbahce (Turkey): Fenerbahce cruised into the EuroLeague Final Eight by completing a two-game sweep of CCC Polkowice with a 64-48 victory on March 14. Fenerbahce will be the top seed in Group A when the quarterfinal round begins April 7. McCoughtry was needed for just 18 minutes in the victory, totaling six points, three boards and two assists, and is now averaging 14.1 points, 6.0 boards and 3.0 steals in 14 EuroLeague contests. Fenerbahce did not play in the Turkish League last week and remains 21-2 in the Turkish League. McCoughtry is averaging 15.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.1 steals and 2.7 assists in 19 Turkish League games. She leads both the EuroLeague and the Turkish League in steals.

Le'Coe Willingham – Conquero (Spain): Willingham played in three games for the Spanish League team in January, but is no longer a part of the team. She averaged 4.7 points and 2.7 rebounds in her three games with the squad.
