Overseas Update - March 4

The following is an update on how Atlanta Dream players fared in games over the past week with their overseas teams. You can find links to all of their teams’ web pages and get more detailed information by clicking here.

Erika de Souza – Sport Recife (Brazil): Sport Recife improved to 6-0 with a 92-51 victory over Guarulhos on Feb. 25 to wrap up first place in the league during the regular season. During the victory, de Souza had a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Her team received a bye into the semifinal round of the playoffs, which begin on March 16. In six games, de Souza is averaging 13.3 points and a league-leading 11.0 rebounds per game.

Tiffany Hayes – Besiktas (Turkey): Besiktas lost twice last week to fall to 5-16 overall. During an 82-61 loss to Istanbul Universitesi on Feb. 25, Hayes had five points and three rebounds in 17 minutes off the bench. In an 80-73 loss to Botas on March 2, she scored eight points in just nine minutes. Hayes is now averaging 8.5 points and 2.0 rebounds in her first six games with the club. Hayes previously played for Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion of Israel, and averaged 18.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.7 steals in 10 games with the club.

Aneika Henry – Rivas Ecopolis (Spain): No. 9 seed Rivas Ecopolis dropped out of the EuroLeague playoffs last week with a 79-75 loss to No. 8 seed Famila Schio on Feb. 27 in the third game of the best-of-three series. Henry had eight points and six rebounds in the loss, and finished EuroLeague competition averaging 11.4 points and 8.5 rebounds in 15 EuroLeague games. Rivas Ecopolis bounced back to beat Gran Canaria in the Spanish League by a score of 91-58 on March 2 to improve to 16-1. Henry had six points, seven boards, three assists and three blocked shots and is now averaging 9.7 points and 7.5 boards in Spanish League games.

Cathrine Kraayeveld – Shinhan Bank (South Korea): Shinhan Bank finished the season 24-11 in the South Korean League, in a tie for first place. In her 15 games with the team, Kraayeveld averaged 14.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists.

Yelena Leuchanka – Liaoning (China): Leuchanka played in 18 games this season for Liaoning, which finished 14-8 and in third place in the Chinese League. In her 18 games with the club, Leuchanka averaged 17.7 points and 9.1 rebounds.

Sancho Lyttle – Galatasaray (Turkey): Galatasaray won twice in the Turkish League last week to improve to 18-3, just one game out of first place. In a 73-50 win over Botas on Feb. 26, Lyttle had nine points, six rebounds and two steals in 17 minutes off the bench. During a 67-39 thumping of Canik Bld on March 2, she started and had 13 points, nine boards and two steals. Lyttle now averages 11.0 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.0 steals in 21 Turkish League games. Galatasaray did not play in EuroLeague competition last week, having already secured a spot in the Final Eight in Ekaterinburg, Russia. The team will open in the Final Eight against Good Angels Kosice on March 18. Lyttle is averaging 11.2 points, 7.6 boards and 2.6 steals in 14 EuroLeague games.

Angel McCoughtry – Fenerbahce (Turkey): Fenerbahce won twice in the Turkish League last week to improve to 19-2, remaining in first place by one game. During a 96-81 victory over Ceyhan Bld on Feb. 26, McCoughtry had 19 points, seven rebounds, three blocks and two steals. In a 116-57 throttling of Samsun on March 2, she had 10 points, four rebounds and four assists in just 12 minutes. McCoughtry is now averaging a team-high 15.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.4 steals in 16 Turkish League games. Fenerbahce did not play in EuroLeague competition last week, having already secured a spot in the Final Eight in Ekaterinburg, Russia. The team will open in the Final Eight against Bourges Basket on March 18. McCoughtry is averaging 14.5 points, 7.6 boards and 2.0 steals in 14 EuroLeague games.

Armintie Price – Besiktas (Turkey): Besiktas lost twice last week to fall to 5-16 overall. During an 82-61 loss to Istanbul Universitesi on Feb. 25, Price had four points, two rebounds and two assists. She fared better during an 80-73 loss to Botas on March 2, totaling 13 points, six rebounds, five steals and four assists. In her nine games with the club, Price is averaging 10.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.8 steals and 3.6 assists.

Jasmine Thomas – Vologda-Chevakata (Russia): Vologda-Chevakata returned to action after a long layoff, falling to Dynamo Kursk 81-60 on March 3 to fall to 6-9 in the Russian League. Thomas totaled four points and three rebounds in the loss, and is now averaging 7.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 15 Russian League games. She also played in all 12 of the team’s EuroCup games before the team was eliminated, averaging 10.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists.

Le'Coe Willingham – Perfumerias Avenida (Spain): Perfumerias Avenida beat Burgos in the Spanish League by a score of 83-60 on March 2 to improve to 13-3, remaining in second place. Willingham had 10 points and seven rebounds in the victory, and is now averaging 11.4 points and 6.5 boards in 11 Spanish League games this season. Willingham also averaged 12.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists in nine EuroLeague games this season before her team was eliminated from the playoffs.
