Meet the Rookies: Anne Marie Armstrong

Q: What are your impressions of living in Atlanta so far?

A: Well, I grew up a little bit of outside of Atlanta. I never actually lived in the city but so far I really like it. Thereís a lot to do, a lot of nice restaurants, the location of our apartments is really nice - to walk to Atlantic station where a lot of stuff is, where you can shop.

Q: How is playing in the WNBA different than playing in college?

A: Everyone is just competing for a job, so I think a lot of people take it more seriously. This is how people are making their living. So just the competition and the level that everyone plays at as well.

Q: If you werenít playing basketball, what would you be doing?

A: Either playing volleyball, or I would like to get into sports broadcasting. I was a Sports Management major at UGA.

Q: What is your earliest memory of playing basketball?

A: I would say when I was younger I started in a co-ed league when I was really young at the YMCA near my house. I just really enjoyed playing with the boys and girls and being friends.

Q: Did you ever imagine yourself playing in the WNBA?

A: I donít know if I actually imagined myself playing in the WNBA. I always dreamed of playing in college and that happened, and just being a top athlete you always dream of reaching the top level of sports. I would say it's just really a dream come true. I wouldn't necessarily say I imagined myself, but I always wished that I would be in the WNBA.

Q: What is your all-time favorite basketball memory?

A: This past year being my senior year, having a senior-lead team and making it into the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament.

Q: Do you have any unique skills or talents that are not sports-related?

A: I can do the worm. Thatís about it.

Q: Tell us something interesting about yourself that people wouldnít know?

A: I love animals. My favorite animal is elephants. I have a weird kind of obsession with them. I have a lot of pictures of them and stuffed animals of them. Iíve been to Africa before, so I got the chance to see them in person.
