McCoughtry, USA Move to 4-0

ATLANTA, Aug. 3, 2012 - Atlanta Dream Olympians Angel McCoughtry and Erika de Souza continued their strong play at the London Olympics, nearly both putting up double-doubles during Friday games. McCoughtry's United States team won for the fourth time in four tries by beating the Czech Republic and is now the only undefeated team in Group A, while de Souza's Brazil squad lost its fourth straight with a loss to Canada.

McCoughtry just missed a double-double with eight points and 11 rebounds in 18 minutes of action in an 88-61 victory. She hit four of her 12 shots, and six of her 11 rebounds came on the offensive end. She also added two assists, two steals and a block for the U.S. team, which also includes Dream head coach Marynell Meadors as an assistant coach.

McCoughtry now ranks second on Team USA in scoring, averaging 12.3 points per game, and third in rebounding (6.3), despite playing the ninth-most minutes on the team.

Meanwhile, Brazil dropped to 0-4 in the Olympics with a 79-73 loss to Canada, but once again, de Souza stood out for the Brazilian squad. She led all scorers with 22 points, sinking six of her nine field goal attempts, and shooting 10-of-12 from the free throw line. She also grabbed 12 rebounds for her second double-double of the tournament, and added two assists, two steals and two blocked shots.

Through four games, de Souza is third among all Olympic teams in scoring (16.3 points) and second in rebounds (9.0).
