Atlanta Dream Hires Sarah Ryan as Sponsorship Sales Consultant
“Sarah has played women’s basketball at an elite level. She has a true passion for the game and knowledge of everything that goes into it,” said Ashley Preisinger, CEO of the Dream. “She could do many different things at this stage in her life, and we are thrilled to have her as a part of our team.”
Ryan, who has regularly attended Dream games with her husband, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, will support the team’s efforts in sponsorship sales. Since graduating, she has held administrative roles at various companies in Boston and Atlanta. Recently, she has been volunteering on a daily basis with the Boys & Girls Club’s after-school program.
“It’s a thrill to return to basketball, even in a non-playing capacity.” said Ryan. “I’m passionate about sports and bringing attention to the women who play them. I hope my perspective as a former player can open people’s eyes to how great this team and the WNBA are.”
Ryan (then Sarah Marshall) started three seasons for Boston College at point guard and ended her career second on the school’s all-time assists list. She was a three-time conference academic all-star, and was a part of two teams that made the Sweet Sixteen.
The two-time Eastern Conference Champion Atlanta Dream, 10-3, is in its sixth season at Philips Arena as part of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). The Dream qualified for the playoffs in each of the past four seasons, including back-to-back conference titles in 2010 and 2011. Season tickets and single-game tickets for the 2013 season can be purchased by calling (877) 977-7729 or visiting www.AtlantaDream.net.
The next home game is scheduled for Wednesday, July 24, at 7 p.m. against the Connecticut Sun. The complete 2013 schedule can be found at www.wnba.com/dream/schedule.
