ATLANTA, February 10, 2011 — Atlanta Dream guard Coco Miller has been selected to compete in the 2011 Haier Shooting Stars competition during NBA All-Star Saturday Night in Los Angeles on February 19.

“Team Atlanta features Miller, Atlanta Hawks forward Al Horford, and NBA TV analyst Steve Smith. Miller helped the Dream to the Eastern Conference championship in 2010, averaging 10.6 points and 3.3 assists in the playoffs. The former University of Georgia standout is entering her eleventh season in the league and her third season with the Dream.

Team Atlanta will face off against teams from Los Angeles, Texas and Chicago in the annual shooting competition. The home team from Los Angeles includes Sparks forward Tina Thompson, Lakers center Pau Gasol and NBA TV analyst Rick Fox. The defending champion Team Texas is represented by Silver Stars guard Roneeka Hodges, Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki and TNT analyst Kenny Smith. Team Chicago is comprised of Sky forward Cathrine Kraayveld, Bulls forward Taj Gibson and TNT NBA Analyst Steve Kerr.

““The Haier Shooting Stars contest features one current NBA player, one current WNBA player and one TNT on-air talent and legend on each team. There are six numbered shooting locations of increasing difficulty, with each team attempting to make all shots in numeric order in the fastest time. Each team will select a specific player rotation to follow throughout the competition. Each shot must be made before the next player begins shooting in succession. Teams have up to two minutes to complete the entire shooting course and the team that completes all six shots in the least amount of time is declared the winner. In the case of a tie, a shoot-off will be used to determine the winner.

Haier Shooting Stars will be televised live nationally as part of the NBA All-Star Saturday Night presented by State Farm, which will also feature the Foot Locker Three-Point Contest, Sprite Slam Dunk, Taco Bell Skills Challenge, and NBA All-Star Jam Session presented by adidas. TNT and ESPN Radio’s national coverage will begin at 8 p.m. EST from Staples Center. The NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, Feb. 20, will air live on TNT, ESPN Radio and in more than 200 countries and will be broadcast in more than 40 languages.

The Dream tips off its fourth season this summer at Philips Arena as part of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), the world’s longest-running women’s professional sports league. The defending Eastern Conference Champions begin play at home on June 5 against the New York Liberty. For ticket information, visit www.AtlantaDream.net or call 1-877-977-7729.
