Dream Owner Kathy Betty Named Keynote Speaker at EWGA Kickoff

ATLANTA, February 17, 2010 - Atlanta Dream Owner Kathy Betty will serve as the keynote speaker for the Atlanta Chapter of the Executive Women's Golf Association's kickoff event on February 28.

"The EWGA is approaching 20 years in existence and I believe our organization has great opportunities ahead and is on the verge of terrific new things," said EWGA President Pam Banister. "I know that the Atlanta Dream shares in that positive outlook for ALL women in sport, and with Kathy Betty's recent purchase of the team, they too have a tremendous opportunity. Because of these parallels, I can think of no better partner to help usher in a new decade."

Betty purchased the Dream in October 2009, shortly after the franchise completed its second season in Atlanta. A prominent Atlanta businesswoman and sports advocate, Betty has more than 25 years of business management and consultancy experience. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Computer Sciences from the University of Alabama and Belmont College and went on to work for Hayes Microsystems, was one of the first female partners with Ernst & Young, and later served as Executive Vice President and Partner with Scott, Madden and Associates. In 1996, she formed her own successful incubator The Tradewind Group.

"Semi-retired" from the business world, Betty serves in a leadership capacity for a number of non-profit organizations. She is chairman and CEO of the Garry Betty Foundation, a partnership with the V Foundation. She also serves on the boards of Alexander Tharpe Fund, Georgia Institute of Technology, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Atlanta, and the Atlanta Tipoff Club.

EWGA is an international, not-for-profit organization founded in 1991 to provide career-minded women with an environment in which they can advance their recreational and professional interests through the game of golf. The Atlanta Chapter of the EWGA currently has approximately 250 members representing hundreds of Atlanta area businesses.

The annual EWGA kickoff event will be held Sunday, February 28 at 2 p.m. at Dave & Buster's in Duluth. For more information or to register for the event, visit www.ewgatlanta.com.
