Meet the Atlanta Dream’s Newest ’Star’

ATLANTA, April 30, 2008 -- In a special event at Zoo Atlanta today, the Atlanta Dream unveiled the team’s newest member— Star, the team mascot! Local youth packed the zoo’s Wildlife Theater as Dream President Bill Bolen and “Name the Mascot” contest winner, Jaclyn Edelstein, introduced Star to fans for the first time. Following the announcement, the entire Dream roster joined Star for an autograph session and photo opportunities with fans.

Edelstein, age 4, was one of more than 100 children who entered the Dream’s “Name the Mascot” coloring contest in April. Local youth were encouraged to color a drawing of the mascot and submit their suggestion for the mascot name.

From these entries, a committee selected four finalists for the mascot’s name. The nominees were: Dazzle, Dash, Dreamer and Star. The deciding vote was in the hands of Atlanta Dream season ticket holders, who by popular vote selected the name “Star.”
