The Dream travel to Indiana today to for the third of four matchups with the Fever. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM EST at Conseco Fieldhouse.
The Dream are looking to get back on track after last night’s loss to the Connecticut Sun, 98-72. Atlanta has lost eight of its nine last games. Three players finished in double figures for the Dream, led by Betty Lennox with 19. Katie Feenstra added 13 points and Erika De Souza chipped in with 11. The Sun’s post players proved to be too much for the Dream to handle as Asjha Jones and Tamika Whitmore accounted for more than half of Connecticut’s offensive production. Whitmore scored a game-high 27 points and Jones added 24 points.
The Fever also dropped their first game back from the Olympic break to the Sun, 84-58. No Fever players scored in double figures as the Indiana shot 34% from the field. Tully Bevilaqua and Tammy Sutton-Brown led the way with nine points each. The Fever are led by Katie Douglas and Tamika Catchings. Douglas leads the team in scoring with 16 points per game and averages 4.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.6 steals. Catchings is still finding her form after missing most of the season due to an Achilles injury. She is currently averaging 11.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.0 steals.
The series between the two teams is tied 1-1, with Atlanta winning the last matchup 81-77 at Conseco Fieldhouse on July 16, 2008. Betty Lennox and Izi Castro Marques combined for 40 points as Atlanta earned its third win of the season. Castro Marques finished with a season-high 24 points and Lennox added 11 of her 16 points in the fourth quarter. Indiana was led by Tamika Catchings with 18 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. Indiana won the first matchup between the two teams 89-67 in Atlanta. The Dream and Fever will face off once more this year on September 8 in Atlanta.
The Dream have three former Fever players on their roster (Alison Bales, Ann Strother, Kasha Terry). This is the second time that Bales will face her former team after being traded to the Dream on July 4, 2008 in exchange for forward Kristen Mann. Bales played 33 minutes in the first game, recording eight points and a team-high 11 rebounds.
