ATLANTA DREAM CLINCHES PLAYOFF BERTH

ATLANTA, September 4, 2011 – The Atlanta Dream is headed back to the playoffs for a third straight time in the franchise’s fourth season. The Dream clinched a postseason berth with today’s 73-52 victory over the Tulsa Shock.

With today’s win, the Dream moved to 18-14 with two regular season games remaining. Atlanta trails the third-place New York Liberty by ½ game. New York (18-13) is in action this afternoon against the Minnesota Lynx. The Dream, the defending Eastern Conference Champions, got off to a rough start this season, losing nine of its first 12 games. Atlanta has won 10 of its last 13 as the regular season heads to a close. The Dream hosts the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday night before facing the Indiana Fever on the road on Sunday.

The 2011 WNBA playoffs presented by Boost Mobile tip off on September 15. The Conference Semifinals and the Conference Finals are each best-of-three series. Series are played in a 1-1-1 format, with the team with home-court advantage (better record) hosting Games 1 and 3, while their opponent hosts Game 2.

The WNBA Finals is a best-of-five series played in a 2-2-1 format, with the team with home-court advantage hosting Games 1, 2, and 5 while their opponent hosts Games 3 and 4.
