PROGRAM DETAILS
HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE?
Each spring, the Atlanta Dream selects thirteen girls from the metro Atlanta community to participate in their “Power of Girls” mentoring program presented by Bank of America and co-presented by Coca-Cola. The selected girls interact closely with the Atlanta Dream staff, players and Shooting Stars who serve as mentors for the group. The program provides a comfortable environment in which the girls are encouraged to explore new opportunities designed to stimulate self-reflection and personal growth. Each participant will come away with an experience that is both challenging and rewarding.
Power Lessons: There will be power lessons during the summer that every girl will be required to attend. These workshops include lessons on self-image, communication, fundraising, confidence and community service. The lessons will be led by Atlanta Dream staff and special guest speakers from across the community (see calendar on application for tentative dates).
Power Trips: There will be several power trips during the summer, including special outings with staff, Atlanta Dream players and Shooting Stars Cheer Team (see calendar on application for tentative dates).
The program is open to rising 8th grade girls (must be an 8th grade student during the 2009-2010 school year). Completed applications must be submitted by Friday, April 3 via mail or email. There is no charge to participate in this program. Please note that there is a time commitment and fundraising component to this program. If your parents feel that you will not be able to attend workshops/trips, 2009 Dream home games or complete the fundraising project, please do not apply for this program.
