ATLANTA, January 6, 2009— With the start of the New Year, we take a look back at the Atlanta Dream in the community during the 2008 holiday season.
One of the most memorable experiences for Dream players Chantelle Anderson and Nikki Teasley was a holiday visit to the Egleston campus of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Anderson, Teasley and members of the Dream staff got in the holiday spirit by decorating gingerbread cookies and playing games with the children.
In December, the Dream teamed up with United Way to help support the annual Toys for Tots campaign. The Dream donated over $500 worth of toys to help make the holidays brighter for deserving children across the metro Atlanta area.
In addition to the Toys for Tots drive, the Dream also partnered with BJ’s Membership Clubs to support the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. Chantelle Anderson and Nikki Teasley visited the BJ’s Membership Club in East Point to encourage shoppers to donate toys.
The Dream also participated in the grand opening of City of Refuge’s “Eden Village,” a women and children’s assessment center in downtown Atlanta. Chantelle Anderson and members of the Dream staff hosted a pizza party for the children and played bingo for some special Dream prizes.
