The Atlanta Dream and the American Red Cross joined forces to encourage basketball fans to give the gift of life this summer by donating blood. The two-week blood drive, conducted from August 24-September 1, 2008, was a huge success as the American Red Cross collected approximately 109% of goal during the promotion.

The partnership resulted in 7,651 units of blood and 758 platelet units for a grand total of 8,409 total units collected during the two-week drive. Because each unit of blood can help save up to three lives, as many as 23,711 lives may have been saved as a result of the blood collected during the Atlanta Dream promotion. Thanks to all the fans who donated blood and helped make the inaugural drive such a success!
